Who I am
Navy veteran and construction operations leader Cliff Sunkel. Residential, high-end residential, and commercial tenant improvement.
I grew up working in the high-end homes of the Bay — Blackhawk, Alamo, Atherton — alongside the designers and craftsmen who build for discerning clients, and I spent years as the polished face a demanding designer trusted on site. I know that world and what excellence looks like in it. I can be the calm professional at your table and the hard one at the builder’s.
I am not anti-builder. Everyone on a project deserves a fair profit, and the best builders do honest, excellent work. But I work for the owner. I cannot promise I will catch every trick — no honest person can — but I know where they hide, and finding them is exactly what you are paying me for.
And a word on referrals: I take no fees or kickbacks — not from builders, not from anyone. If I ever point you toward a name, it is because I have watched them do honest work. If your experience is not good, I want to hear it — it comes off my list. My loyalty is to the owner, every time.

Contra Costa, the East Bay, San Francisco, Marin, and the Peninsula — where I know the market, the inspectors, and where builders cut corners.
